About The Club
We are here to grow the sport in a friendly & fun environment.
The club was set up to allow members to connect & find groups to play with. Also to showcase the amazing free Course provided by Amesbury Town Council.
The club officially formed in 2020. Originally organising the ocassional gathering & league. Since then this has expanded to:
Sunday Casuals – Every Sunday at 10 am there is a chance to have a casual round. These are ideal for those who want to come and try the game or just want a relaxed round in a larger group.
Tuesday Leagues – Tuesday nights from 6pm is usually the night for league action. There are 3 leagues a year in the Spring, Summer & even a glow league in the winter. These are held over a 10-12 week period.
Cup Competitions – Once a year the club host a cup competition. spread out over a 6-8 week period.
Encouraging new players
Club members love welcoming new players. Many have started off by just stopping by to watch while others have seen the sport online and want to have a go.
The club attend local events to let people have a go using one of our portable baskets.
In recent years we have also set up a handicap system to allow a novice player to be able to compete against those who have been playing longer.
I found the club at the nearby super fete in 2023. The members welcomed me along to a sunday casuals event & I have been going ever since. Using the handicap system I even managed to win one of the cup competitions
Inclusive
The club prides itself on the fact that Casuals will often see players ranging from 8-80 and all walks of life.
Grow The Sport
We were all new to start with & our members know that encouragement is the key to growing the sport.
Love The Game
Our members often take extra time to play another round to encourage new players.
Collaborative
We work alongside organisations such as Amesbury Town Council, The Scouts & The Army to provide disc golf with the best facilities we can.
Tournaments
We have recently expanded our programme to run 2 tournaments a year; the “Grips & Chains” event in May & the “Stonehenge Skirmish” in October. These have now expanded to a field of 72 players over 3 rounds. In 2024 they became PDGA certified and saw players from all over the UK & some from abroad.
