As revealed at this weekends “Stonehenge Skirmish” competition, the course at Amesbury is about to undergo some modifications and an extension. This has been aimed at improving the course and the park for all users and in particular disc golfers of all abilities.
For several months the club has been working alongside Amesbury Town Council and in Septembers town council meeting the clubs plans were approved.
The land for the course extension will see another 4 holes added to the course. The existing course will still have 18 holes and several will have dual tee pads. Allowing for a course that will still be family friendly & a layout with 22 holes that should challenge the more experienced disc golfer. The tournament course will then have 18 holes spread out over the whole course. There will also be a new entrance to the course as well as some of the existing being modified for safety.
Funds raised by the club over the last couple of years will form the base of budget required & grants have been applied for to help us finish the work.
There will be some disruption around the course over the coming months but we will try and make sure the course is playable. Any areas where work is taking place will be fenced off. Please do not enter these areas.
The club looks forward to showing off the new course in the coming months.
